Is Anyone Not Ready? is a short experimental film which focuses on New York's legendary theater company, The Wooster Group,
as they develop a new multimedia production of Hamlet. A meditation on life in the theater, this piece is a visually driven,
impressionistic portrait, which reveals the intense concentration of the performers, from alert exuberance to fatigue and boredom.
The piece explores the inherent tension between inertia and explosive action during states of transition, focusing on actors in periods of repose or waiting, moments before unleashing their energy into performance; exhibiting anticipation not unlike athletes in the seconds before a strenuous, physical event. The audio score, a ghostly collage of disembodied voices, punctuated with music samples and sound
bursts, incorporates layers of spoken text taken from moments of performance, and seems to fill the air with expectancy, enticing the per formers to action.
This material is also currently being developed into a feature length documentary.
