Is Anyone Not Ready?, 2012

Is Anyone Not Ready? is a feature length, experiential documentary which focuses on New York’s legendary theater company, The Wooster Group, as they attempt to return Richard Burton’s seminal 1964 filmed version of Hamlet back to the live stage. Spanning several years, the documentary offers a backstage view, exposing the daily rhythms of the company; the pre-show rituals, the intense concentration of performance, as well as the hopes, expectations and frustrations of Scott Shepherd, the actor playing Hamlet. Following the trajectory from the playful, searching frustrations of early rehearsals through the heightened zero hour tensions of opening night, Is Anyone Not Ready? is ultimately a meditation on the cyclical and repetitive nature of life in the theater.
